This Cookie Policy explains how cookies and similar local-storage technologies are used on the website (https://laflai.app) of the Laflai service provided by Laflai. Laflai is an adults-only (18+) flirting/messaging co-pilot mobile app; it is not a matching or dating app. This policy applies primarily to the website; a note about the on-device storage behaviour of the Laflai mobile app is also included below (Section 6).

1. What Are Cookies and Local Storage?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device through your browser when you visit it. Cookies help a site perform its essential functions, remember your preferences (such as language), and understand how the site is used.

"Local storage" (local storage / session storage) is a browser technology that, like cookies, is used to store data, but is not automatically sent to the server. In this policy, the term "cookies" also covers these similar technologies unless stated otherwise.

2. About Our Website: A Simple, Informational Site

The website at https://laflai.app is, by design, a simple, informational marketing/legal site. The actual product is the Laflai mobile app; the website mainly serves to introduce the product, host our legal documents, and direct you to the app stores (Apple App Store / Google Play). Subscriptions are sold from within the app through the app stores; payment and the role of seller/merchant of record belong to the stores. For details, see our Subscription Terms.

For this reason, our website uses cookies to the smallest extent possible. We do not use cookies for advertising or for tracking users. The categories below honestly and proportionately describe the full set of cookies that may be used; not all of these categories are necessarily active at all times.

3. Categories of Cookies That May Be Used

3.1. Strictly Necessary (Essential) Cookies

These cookies are required for the site to operate securely and correctly; for example, they support functions such as load balancing, security, and basic session management. Without them, the site may not work as expected. Because their legal basis is the provision of the service and our legitimate interest, no separate consent is sought for these cookies; you can block them in your browser, but in that case some parts of the site may not function.

3.2. Preference (Functionality) Cookies

These cookies improve your experience by remembering your choices. The most typical example is your language preference (e.g. Turkish/English). These cookies are not used for tracking and serve only to provide you with a more consistent experience.

3.3. Analytics Cookies (only when enabled)

We may use product analytics to understand how the site is used and to improve our content. For this purpose we use PostHog; PostHog data is hosted in the European Union (EU) (eu.i.posthog.com).

Analytics runs only when and where enabled, and is configured, as far as possible, to be cookieless and/or anonymized/pseudonymized — meaning it is not intended to personally identify individual users. If an analytics cookie that requires consent is used, it is activated only after the consent described below (Section 7).

3.4. Cookies We Do Not Use

On the Laflai website we do not use advertising, retargeting, or third-party ad-network cookies. We do not place tracking cookies that follow you across sites, and we do not sell your data for advertising purposes.

4. How to Control Cookies

You are always in control of cookies:

  • Consent banner: Where a cookie that requires consent (such as analytics) is used, a cookie/consent banner may be shown when you visit the site. Through this banner you can accept or reject non-essential cookies and manage your preferences.
  • Browser settings: Most browsers allow you to view, delete, and block cookies. These settings are usually found in the browser's "Privacy" or "Security" section. If you block strictly necessary cookies, some parts of the site may not work properly.
  • Clearing local storage: You can also clear the contents of local storage using your browser's option to clear site data.

5. Third Parties and Cross-Border Transfers

The main third party that may be associated with cookies on our website is PostHog (hosted in the EU region), when analytics is enabled. Our site-hosting and content-delivery (CDN) infrastructure providers may also use strictly necessary cookies or similar technical identifiers for security and performance.

For the full list of the third-party service providers (subprocessors) used across the Laflai service — for example Anthropic, PBC and Groq, Inc. (AI providers, USA), Supabase, Inc. (database/storage/authentication, USA), RevenueCat, Inc. (subscription management, USA), Expo (push delivery/distribution, USA), Sentry (error monitoring) and PostHog (analytics, EU) — and explanations regarding data transfers, please see our Privacy Policy.

Because most of these providers are located in the USA, cross-border transfers of personal data may occur. Under KVKK Art. 9, cross-border transfers are made, where required, on the basis of your explicit consent or other conditions set out in the legislation; such explicit consent is obtained under the Explicit Consent Text. For users covered by the EU/GDPR, these transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

6. The Mobile App: No Web Cookies, On-Device Storage Instead

The Laflai mobile app does not use web cookies. Instead, the app uses an on-device storage technology called MMKV to store data such as your session information and preferences (e.g. language, tone preference, goal, session state) locally on your device. This data stays on your device and helps the app run quickly and smoothly; it is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

As part of the app's core operation, screenshots you upload from your own conversations are sent once to the AI provider for analysis and permanently deleted from our storage as soon as the analysis completes; we do not keep the screenshots. This behaviour is unrelated to cookies and is part of the app's data-processing flow; for details, please see our Privacy Policy and KVKK Information Notice.

7. Consent

Cookies other than strictly necessary ones (for example, analytics cookies that require consent) are activated, where applicable, only after we obtain your explicit consent. You may withdraw your consent or change your preferences at any time through the cookie banner or your browser settings. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

8. Your Rights Under KVKK and GDPR

As a data subject, under KVKK Art. 11 you have the right to: learn whether your personal data is processed; request information if it is; learn the purpose of processing; know the third parties to whom data is transferred at home or abroad; request rectification of incomplete or inaccurate data; request erasure or destruction within the conditions of KVKK Art. 7; request that such actions be notified to third parties to whom data was transferred; object to a result against you arising from analysis solely by automated systems; and claim compensation for damages you suffer.

Users covered by the EU/GDPR additionally have the rights of access, rectification, erasure ("right to be forgotten"), restriction of processing, data portability, objection to processing and to direct marketing, withdrawal of consent for consent-based processing, and lodging a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.

This Cookie Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in our services, the technologies we use, or applicable law. The updated text is published on this page with a revised effective date and version number above. Where changes are significant, we may provide additional notice as we consider appropriate.
